After the Rain

It has rained almost nonstop for the last 2 days. But this morning the sun came out again.

After about 9 inches of rain, everything is saturated and muddy. Our batteries couldn't charge enough since the sun didn't come out, so we lost power during the storm. The wind brought water in through the windows of our house, and laundry has piled up since the sunshine is our dryer in Haiti.  We can't drive down our road to get home because last weeks rain left the road unpassable.

But we are thankful for the rain. And we are thankful for the sunshine.

As life goes by can we praise God for the "rain" that comes our way? It's often easy to wish for a sunny day, but sometimes, it's on the rainy days that we truly feel the faithfulness and presence of God. We really are not in control of our lives. God knows that our plans and objectives may need to be rearranged from time to time. Maybe that's why He sends the rain.

But when the sun comes out again, have we learned? Are we more thankful than we were before?
