Journal - February 9, 2024

In early January I spent a week away in Torbeck. It was good to get a break and be refreshed.

At the construction department we kept busy building church benches, doing some maintenance, and preparing for upcoming jobs.

For the past couple of weeks, unrest in Haiti has once again been heightened. It's sad to see children unable to go to school, businesses not able to function, and people discouraged and afraid.

Yet these people are tough. They have had to face so many situations and circumstances that none of us would choose. At times like this people show their truest selves, reflecting the love of Christ, holding nothing back. This is when you understand the importance of community and genuine relationships.

Life goes on. And through it all we develop character and resilience, becoming best friends. I'm thankful for these blessings found in friendship despite the hard times.

Continue to pray for the people of Haiti.
