This world is such a broken place. It's sad but true and seems to become more evident as time goes by.

As negative as the previous sentences may sound, it makes the following sentence all the more powerful. Our God is a redeemer of brokenness and a restorer of relationships! 

Sometimes it seems that I relearn these life lessons the hard way. It is when we get to the point where we don't know what else to say, to give, to think, to do etc. that we realize we never were in control of the situation in the first place. Although we wonder why, many times we must move forward without the answers. This can be a lot easier said than done, yet there is blessing in surrender and there is peace in taking steps of faith through the darkness. 

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2

By daily choosing to renew our minds daily, we are putting ourselves in a position to better discern the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God. We can do this by studying the word of God, through prayer and fasting, or simply dwelling on what is good (Philippians 4:8) throughout the day.
