We got back to Cayes around 9:30 last night after spending a few days building a roof on a school up in the mountains a few hours away. Although it's a lot warmer here in Cayes, it felt great to sleep in my own bed!

It's always fun to see the kids excited to help.
I am continually thankful for the sacrifices people make for me, and for really loyal friends. I'm thankful for these friends who continually have patience and answer my many questions, and who give me grace when even my best intentions mess things up. There is so much that I am still learning about this culture. Sometimes it feels discouraging, misunderstanding situations based on my different cultural background. It's hard to try and be helpful in a situation and to come to find out I made things more difficult or complicated for someone. Through it all I pray for wisdom and understanding, that I can make choices and decisions that reflect the love and grace of Christ.
Since it is summer break, I've got to spend some more time with the kids. The little girl above came to work at the guesthouse with her mom one day. She was a sweetheart.

The next pictures are from an old fort out on a small island. This was the first time I had been back since the earthquake. Most of it is the same but there are some parts that were destroyed.

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. John 16:33
