Journal - April 11, 2022
It seems like every time I sit down to write it's always about the hard things. But the truth is, there is just lots of heartbreak and suffering in Haiti and other poverty stricken parts of the world. My eyes were so blinded to this before moving here.
Building friendships with people who are walking through things like:
- unemployment with no hope of finding work
- hunger - hoping for one meal today, not knowing about the next one
- death of precious children
- fear because of no government
- destroyed homes {patched up with tarps} and the constant worry of thieves breaking in and taking what little you have left
- rising prices, making buying anything extremely difficult
The list goes on and on. I won't name them, but these are people who have become my friends and are like family to me. Please pray for them.

I was able to go to Florida for a week at the end of March. It was a good little break and was great to be able to see mom and Ruth.
While I was away, some protesting caused problems at the Cayes airport, making coming back into Haiti a bit more challenging. Thankfully I was able to fly into Port just a couple days later than planned, stay overnight, then fly to Jeremie the next morning and get a ride home to Cayes (about 3 hours).
Teach me your way, O LORD,
and lead me on a level path
because of my enemies.
Give me not up to the will of my adversaries;
for false witnesses have risen against me,
and they breathe out violence.
I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the LORD
in the land of the living!
Wait for the LORD;
be strong, and let your heart take courage;
wait for the LORD!
Psalm 27:11-14
