The past few weeks have been filled with firsts and new things. Some good and some not so good. From spraining my ankle, to getting a nasty stomach bug, attending my first Haitian funeral, visiting a friends premature baby, a spontaneous afternoon trip to the beach, to hosting a simple but much enjoyed birthday party for a friend. I'm all the more thankful that God is in the little things.

Pulling in the catch

Some days it can feel like my plans are always getting messed up or that things never seem to go as planned. But then I remember that I'm the one who made those plans. It's all in perspective.

Life is so much easier when I place it all in his hands, releasing my hold and giving control to the one who is already in control.

This song has been on my mind recently:

His Eye is on the Sparrow

Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heaven and home,
When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

"Let not your heart be troubled," His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;
Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

I sing because I'm happy,
I sing because I'm free,
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.
