I’m getting ready to make a trip to America next week. It seems there is a lot to do in preparation for that. But life will go on just fine without me here for a month or so. I’m feeling ready for the trip, ready for a change of pace and a bit of a break. It seems crazy to think that I have been in Haiti for almost 8 months now (I did take a short trip home over Christmas).

Over the past few months I’ve had several really good conversations with a coworker at the hospital. He always seems to have wise advice and a genuine heart. Yesterday, he reminded me that “you need to love yourself. If you don’t do this you can’t be strong to help other people.” I feel like this is something I've been realizing more and more recently and seems to be something that can be a struggle when the days are full of plenty of needs and distractions. But if we don't take time to find our quiet place with God, how can we expect to serve others as best we can?

I’ve enjoyed being able to walk up the road to a few Haitian soccer games lately. Kids from the local schools play each other and it’s always entertaining. We’ve also still been playing volleyball and basketball here at the courts.

Last weekend we (the missionaries in Bonne Fin) were invited to spend the evening at the local Pastors home with him and his family. They prepared a huge meal for us! I really appreciated spending the evening with their family.
