Dèyè mòn gen mòn - Beyond Mountains There Are Mountains

Some many thoughts and ideas come to mind when I think of this common Haitian proverb. It is literally so true here; you climb one mountain just to find another.

It's in the climb that you learn so many lessons. It's in the climb that you build lifelong relationships. It's in the climb that you see some of the saddest and hardest things you will ever encounter.

But it's also in the climb that you find the simplest joys and abundant blessings of God's faithfulness. He has given us the mountains to remind us that we must trust in Him alone. Trust Him enough to take that next step, trust Him to sustain us with just enough grace for the day, and trust Him to show us beauty in the brokenness.

Without the mountains I would be less thankful, less reliant on God, and less connected to others in relationships that I cherish.

Although mountains are not always easy, they bring so much beauty, emotion, and connection, that they are worth the climb.

And in Haiti, when you finish one you must be ready for the next, because it's there. God is so good!
