Thanksgiving.
In Haiti, everyone looks at you strange when you say you get together on a Thursday in November and eat turkey. But that's what we do because that is what we have always done. Agape Flights (a mission service that brings us our mail weekly), kindly sends each missionary a Thanksgiving box and turkey.
Haiti has been in the news quite a bit lately. Kidnappings, fuel shortages, lack of government, etc. Although we feel safe and like life is pretty "normal" in our area, it has been a good prayer reminder for both us here as well as those at home.
I've been finding my new routine and settling in to my new home. Things have gone fairly smooth. My day to day does not always look the same, sometimes it's managing the guesthouse, sometimes accounting for the construction department, and sometimes going out on jobs with the bosses. Going out is always something to look forward to; I love seeing new areas and making connections in new communities. The food is always a treat too!
I really miss my family and community from Bonne Fin. I am thankful to be able to visit occasionally and to keep in touch with them. God has been teaching me that the only way to get through all that we face in life is to abide in Him. Through all the good and all the difficult, we can always find joy when we abide in Him.
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever ABIDES IN ME and I in him, he it is that BEARS MUCH FRUIT, for apart from me you can do nothing..these things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your JOY MAY BE FULL. John 15:5&11
