It's been one year since I moved to Haiti. One year of learning and growing. One year of good days and bad days. One year of incredible experiences and hard situations. From speaking a new language, working a new job, living with new people, and trying to understand a new culture, this year has been full of learning. I thank God that the transition went smoothly.

I'm thankful that with God I am never alone. When the needs seem overwhelming, I am thankful he gives wisdom and knows our limits. As a good friend always says "you learn to do the next thing". You won't get far by having a to-do list or setting a schedule. Flexibility is the key to keeping a positive attitude here in Haiti.

God has revealed his power as well as his love as we lived through the assignation of a president, a 7.2 earthquake, and so much more this past year. I don't regret my move to Haiti, and I am beyond grateful for how God has worked this past year.

Hayden came to visit!

I pray that he would continue to break my heart for what breaks his, that I can live each day for his glory. When you cry yourself to sleep because of what these people are living through, how they remain strong, and how you love them so deeply; you see a piece of God's heart.

Material things don't mean much at all, buildings fall, and money can't bring peace, but our relationship with God is greater still. It's a relationship that will give us a heart to listen to others, teach us to be still, and comfort us no matter what we are going through. For this I am thankful.
