Lessons Learned
I can't even begin to share the many lessons I have learned since moving to Haiti. But these last few weeks on furlough I've been thinking about all God has been teaching me and continue to be amazed. Here are a couple:
- Willingness - Being where God wants us will bring more fulfillment than not, even when we may face the hardest things we have ever faced. Are we ready to serve anywhere He leads us?
- Trust - Where does our trust truly lie? Is it placed in God alone? We will continue to disappoint and be disappointed if our confidence is in ourselves or others. God is our only constant in life.
- Grace - we are only promised enough for today. God gets us through literally one day at a time. He never said life would be easy but He promised not to leave us.
- Culture - Do we have expectations or hopes for our lives that are set solely because of our culture? Is this right? Sometimes culture can get in the way of our complete trust and surrender to God's direction. Being open to pursuing what He puts on our heart (even if it is different than literally everyone we know) can lead to great blessings.
We serve such a great God!
