Journal - March 26, 2021

Tonight I was chatting with a friend who mentioned that when his little boy was hungry he got upset. Without thinking I responded "yeah I am not very happy when I'm hungry either." A bit later in the conversation he said "Miss Lydianne you always have food you can eat though, right?" 

I was caught so off guard and instantly felt ashamed. He was talking about something completely different, about a child who hadn't eaten since the day before. About a family who couldn't afford some food let alone a bag of charcoal to cook their food. About literally not knowing when/what/where their next bite might come from. 

My heart breaks for these people, for this country, and for the things I often don't even remember to be thankful for. 

They are survivors. They are strong. They live by literal faith. 

They often remind me that a life of less in our grasp means a life with wide open hands yet results in hearts that can be filled to overflowing.
